PATIENTS REQUIRING PGT-M FOR UK DONORS

At Sussex Sperm Bank (SxSB) we understand that not all fertility journeys are the same, and sometimes further genetic testing is required for a variety of reasons. We recognise this can be a challenging and stressful time, and we are committed to making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Whether you’ve selected a UK donor or one of our international donors, we are happy to work with your fertility clinic to arrange for the necessary donor consent paperwork and to coordinate a DNA sample for PGT-M set-up. This may involve a saliva, blood, or occasionally a sperm sample, depending on your PGT-M laboratory’s requirements. Please note, the donor’s consent is required for their participation in PGT-M.

If you would like to request a donor(s) DNA sample—please read the information below and complete the request form when you are ready. Once you have submitted the request form, a member of our team will connect you with the relevant department.

At Sussex Sperm Bank (SxSB) we understand that not all fertility journeys are the same and sometimes it is necessary for patients to have further genetic testing for a great variety of reasons.  This can be a challenging and stressful times and here at Sussex Sperm Bank we are committed to making this process as seamless and stress free as possible.

We are happy to work with your treating clinic to arrange for the necessary donor consent paperwork and coordinate a DNA sample for PGT-M set-up.  This is usually in the form of a saliva or blood sample, however at times a sperm sample may be required.

How it works

Coordination: Requests for donor DNA samples are typically made by patient or their fertility clinic. At this stage, your clinic may also request the donor’s existing genetic information from us. Once we receive the request, either our Sussex Sperm Bank team (for UK donors) or our partners at Seattle Sperm Bank (for international donors) will contact the donor to request consent and arrange sample collection. A member of our team will also contact your PGT-M laboratory to gain necessary information regarding testing methodology and consent forms prior to contacting your donor.

Costs: The coordination fee is payable once the donor agrees to testing and prior to the arrangements being made for sample collection.

  • For international donors, the coordination fee is $300.
  • For UK donors, the coordination fee is £250 + VAT.

Important note: Enquiries for PGT-M or the payment of the coordination fee do not guarantee that donor vials and family slots will remain available at a later date.

To secure your chosen donor for future treatment, we recommend purchasing vials and a family slot at your earliest convenience. If the PGT-M laboratory determines that the PGT-M set up for your selected donor is not feasible, or  that you are not a suitable genetic match, any refunds or exchanges will be handled in accordance with our Medical Refund and Donor Exchange Policy. Please note that the coordination fee is non-refundable.

In circumstances where sperm samples are required for testing, the cost of the vial, family slot, and the coordination fee must all be paid in advance. Please click here for our current pricing.

Timing: After a donor consents and provides a DNA sample, it will be shipped within 1-2 days directly to your PGT-M laboratory.

We hope that this has helped offer some clarity on how our PGT-M process works.  We are of course on hand to answer any questions you may have, so please feel free to contact us on01273 620165 or email us on [email protected].
