Selecting a sperm donor can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to understanding the genetic testing that donors have completed. Our genetics team is here to guide and support you throughout this process!
Sussex Sperm Bank offers complimentary Genetic Information Sessions. During your 20-minute session, one of our certified genetic counsellors will:
- Review general information about genetic testing.
- Discuss details about your preferred donor’s carrier screening results.
- Explain any recommended follow-up options, which may include:
– Testing for you or your egg provider
– Requesting additional testing on the donor
– Identifying a donor with more compatible carrier screening results

Genetic Counseling Consultation FAQ
How long is the session? Up to 20 minutes
What is the price for a Genetic Information Session? There is no charge; these sessions are complimentary.
Will I receive a consult note following my session? Yes, a consult note will be provided within 48 hours from the time of your session. Click here to see an example.
Will I be able to pursue carrier screening for myself or the egg source following the appointment? Yes. You or the egg source may pursue carrier screening at any time by completing this form. A link to the form will also be emailed to you after the Genetic Information session.
How many donors can we discuss during my appointment? We can review one donor per session to stay within the 20-minute timeframe. Should you wish to discuss more than one donor you can book additional appointments.
What platform is used? Sessions are held via Microsoft Teams. You’ll receive an email invitation on the day of your appointment. Sessions can either be conducted via video or audio. You may indicate your preference when scheduling your appointment.
