How Photo-Matching Works at Sussex Sperm Bank?
We frequently speak with intended parents about their search for a sperm donor, and it’s not uncommon to hear that they want to find a donor to physically resemble their partner, family member, or just someone they find attractive.
At Sussex Sperm Bank (BFA), we offer a service called Photo-Matching helping clients select donors that match physical characteristics that are most important to them. Unlike an algorithm or celebrity look alike tool, this hand-selected service allows our staff to view submitted photos and comb our donor database to recommend donors with similar physical features. Our staff know our donors, and see them in person regularly, making this a custom service. Let’s walk through how it works.
Submitting Photos
To start, we ask that you send us a list of 2-6 of your favorite donors with notes detailing what you like most about them. It’s helpful to know if you have specific preferences such as race, ethnicity, weight, height, skin tone, eye color, hair color, CMV status or any genetic conditions we need to be aware of. We also request that you send along a few color photographs, preferably from various angles, of the person you want us to compare them with. This may be photos of yourself, your partner, a family member or other individuals of your choosing.
This information allows us to get a better idea about the type of donor you are looking for and helps us make our best recommendations to you. You may also set up a donor consultation call with our team to discuss these items in more detail if needed.
Once we receive your notes and photos, our staff will use adult photos we have on file and personal knowledge about the donors to make suggestions for who we think are a good fit for you. If there is no clear match, we will let you know and can suggest other donors who we think could be good alternatives.
This process typically takes about 3-5 business days.
